Go on-line and create a family tree! This is a free activity and one that requires no additional supplies. Your well-organized family history research and a few computer skills are all that you need to start this project!

I would suggest that you work with a parent to discover new information about your family by posting messages on surname lists and doing some on-line searching.

Do you like to ask questions? Want to be a reporter? Use that energy and curiosity to create a family newsletter. You can interview relatives about their interests, add family stories, and create a calendar of family events. If you have a scanner or digital camera you can insert photographs into your creation! Then e-mail your publication to interested family members or photocopy on brightly colored paper and send via regular mail!

Do any relatives live near you? Plan a visit and conduct an interview! Develop a list of questions based on what you know about the person. You can either write down the answers, tape-record them or use a video camera.

The book Dig Up Your Roots and Find Your Branches: A Child's Guide to Genealogy has lots of great interview questions!
